INGREDIENTS

  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed + 3 tbsp water (flax egg)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mash black beans in a bowl.
  2. Add breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, garlic, flax egg, soy sauce, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Form mixture into 4 patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  6. Serve on buns with toppings like lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, and vegan cheese.
