INGREDIENTS

For the pizza dough:
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
For the toppings:
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 cup vegan cheese (such as shredded vegan mozzarella or a blend of your favorite vegan cheeses)
  • Assorted vegetable toppings of your choice (such as sliced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, spinach, etc.)
  • Optional: vegan pepperoni or other plant-based meat alternatives

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare the pizza dough:
    • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, olive oil, salt, and sugar. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  3. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  4. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or pizza peel lined with parchment paper.
  5. Spread a layer of tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle vegan cheese evenly over the sauce, followed by your choice of vegetable toppings and any optional plant-based meat alternatives.
  7. Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven or pizza stone and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Once done, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
